Project Background

The project required a single-phase distribution transformer with higher-than-standard capacity for pole-mounted applications.
Due to the transformer’s weight and rating, a platform-supported installation design was selected to ensure safe mounting and long-term mechanical stability.

The transformer was required to operate under outdoor conditions and align with the existing medium-voltage distribution parameters, including voltage level, impedance, and tapping configuration.

Key Challenges

  • Higher rated capacity requiring platform-supported pole installation.
  • Mechanical and structural considerations due to transformer weight.
  • Electrical parameter alignment with existing distribution infrastructure.

Scope of Work

  • Confirmation of electrical ratings and installation requirements.
  • Platform-type structural design for pole-mounted application.
  • Manufacturing of single-phase oil-immersed distribution transformer.
  • Routine factory testing and preparation for shipment prior to delivery.

Engineering Considerations

The transformer was designed with an ONAN cooling system and a sealed oil-immersed structure to support continuous outdoor operation.
Electrical design considerations included impedance control, tapping range configuration, and load loss optimization, ensuring compatibility with the existing distribution network.

A platform-type structure was incorporated to support the transformer’s rated capacity and total weight while maintaining compliance with applicable installation practices.

Project Outcome

The transformer was manufactured and delivered in accordance with the confirmed technical requirements.
Routine testing was completed prior to shipment, and the unit was supplied with the necessary documentation to support installation and commissioning by the utility.
