Project Background

The project required a highly reliable medium-voltage distribution transformer for critical government infrastructure, with strict requirements on continuous operation and long-term stability.

The transformer was intended for integration into a forest fire prevention network in Trinidad and Tobago, operating under demanding outdoor conditions and requiring absolute dependability to support emergency monitoring systems.

Key Challenges

  • Ensuring zero-failure reliability for mission-critical public safety infrastructure.
  • Adapting the primary voltage (33 kV) to specific local grid requirements (6.6 kV).
  • Delivering a complete one-package service from precise technical quoting to final testing.

Scope of Work

  • Technical consultation and specification matching
  • Manufacturing of a 500 kVA 33/6.6 kV oil-immersed unit
  • Integration of an NLTC tap changer (±2*2.5%)
  • Rigorous full acceptance testing prior to delivery
  • Packaging and preparation for international export

Engineering Considerations

The transformer was engineered with advanced technology and high-quality materials to ensure a long operational lifespan. Particular attention was given to operational stability under demanding environmental conditions.

The unit was configured with a 33 kV primary voltage and an NLTC (No-Load Tap Changer) with a ±2*2.5% tapping range to allow for precise voltage regulation. The secondary voltage was strictly maintained at 6.6 kV.

Copper windings and a Dyn11 vector group were selected to handle specific load profiles and ensure stable, uninterrupted power distribution to the government's forest fire prevention equipment.

Project Outcome

The 500 kVA transformer was successfully manufactured, subjected to rigorous full acceptance testing, and delivered to Trinidad and Tobago in 2025.

The equipment has been successfully integrated into the local infrastructure, operating stably and demonstrating our capability to deliver reliable one-package solutions to over 50 countries worldwide.
